‘I must, first of all, commend the costume design and lighting teams for their work on Julius Caesar.  The costumes by Miriam Spring Davies were opulent and dramatic, the heavy weight of the fabrics obviously wonderfully authentic.  Credit must be given to the whole team for realising and achieving the elaborate designs.

FANTASTIC production of Julius Caesar!! I’d never been before and having worked in professional theatre years ago, I was stunned at how professional SSC is, with everything. The acting was so strong, I could imagine some had professional training. Design, stunning. Set, amazing with the woodland backdrop. Costume design, I’m incredibly biased as I have worked with Miriam Spring Davies, but, they are AMAZING, both sumptuous and simple. The colour palette she used worked beautifully especially for the crowd scenes. Go and see this, even if you’re not into JC, this show is awesome

One thing I must mention are the costumes. I have been coming to watch the plays in Tolethorpe for the past 5-6 years, and you guys have definitely upped your game in recent years because the costumes in this play are spectacular and perhaps the best I have seen so far (my friend who is in fashion also agrees so that must mean something)… I am told that Twelfth Night was just as good and the costumes are also a visual treat, so I am looking forward to it.

Miriam Spring Davies’ costume designs deserve mention – particularly the opulent, peacock-coloured robes of Caesar and the senators

A customer has just called to say that last night’s performance was absolutely wonderful, despite the weather, and that the actors captured all of the story beautifully.

She wanted to particularly congratulate the costume department; the range of colours and fabrics were gorgeous and made a stunning contribution to the start of the play.
