For The Love Of Scrubs

During the pandemic I initiated and established a team of sewing enthusiasts across two counties – ‘For The Love of Scrubs Stamford Lincs/Rutland’ latterly ‘For The Love of Sewing’. My colleague and I coordinated an intricate network of 18 Covid safe drop off and collection points, with ‘Box Buddies’ and ‘Scrubs on Wheels’ to ensure efficiency in supplying those in need. Growing to over 1000 members, the group created almost 26,000 garments including scrubs, scrub hats, wash bags, headbands , ear savers and face coverings for the NHS and healthcare workers, locally and nationally. Initiating fund raising activities, we raised over £30,000 to fund our sewing.

Now For the Love of Sewing, Stamford Lincs & Rutland – The group continues to champion and provide a platform for community and charity sewing projects such as Dress A Girl Around The World, making dresses and shorts for children living in poverty, sewing to raise money for the for The Poppy Appeal, Children In Need and the Love on A Lorry Ukraine appeal.
